So the question is then: when is a person a person? In this case, the FBI is granting personhood to the aborted fetus because it was wanted.
Does the desire to have a baby make a person a person? Is it reaching a certain developmental stage? It’s all so arbitrary. If the government is going to draw lines, they need to draw some solid lines.You know I once heard a funny comparison to this.
If I have a bag of chips sitting on my desk, they will be a bag of chips whether I want to eat them or not. Not wanting that bag of chips doesn’t mean that they suddenly become a blob of cells (which, technically, we are ALL blobs of cells, just blobs that continuously grow bigger and get more complex) it will always be a bag of chips.
The desire or lack of desire to have something does not change what that something is.
And yes, this case is important. I agree.
I don’t think that comparing a bag of chips to an unborn fetus is a fair comparison, because the bag of chips can be opened at any time and still functions like a bag of chips, where the fetus changes depending on how old it is. I think fetuses are more like bags of popcorn kernels. Popcorn kernels are made out of the same material as the popcorn that they eventually turn into, but I would never think of a popcorn kernel as a piece of popcorn.
I also agree that this case is very important and that he should face charges, just not murder charges.
I think that if they’re going to charge it as murder, they shouldn’t be allowing abortion. If they’re going to allow abortion, they shouldn’t charge it as murder. They should at least be consistent.

Among other subjects, participants identified international leaders, cabinet members, Supreme Court justices, nations on a world map, the current unemployment and poverty rates and war casualty totals.
In a 2010 Pew survey, Republicans outperformed Democrats on 10 of 12 questions, with one tie and Democrats outperforming Republicans on just 1 of the 12. In the latest survey, however, Republicans outperformed Democrats on every single one of 19 questions.
Amusingly, the Pew report attempted to soften the stark partisan knowledge disparity:
“Republicans generally outperformed Democrats on the current quiz. On 13 of the 19 questions, Republicans score significantly higher than Democrats and there are no questions on which Democrats did better than Republicans. In past knowledge quizzes, partisan differences have been more muted, though Republicans often have scored somewhat higher than Democrats.”

According to a New York Timesheadline dated April 14, 2010, “Poll Finds Tea Party Backers Wealthier and More Educated.” Shattering widespread myths, that survey revealed that Tea Party supporters were more likely to possess a college degree than their counterparts (23% to 15%), and also more likely to have completed post-graduate studies (14% to 10%). Tea Partiers were also more likely to have completed “some college” by a 33% to 28% margin, and substantially less likely to have not completed high school than non-supporters (3% versus 12%), or to possess only a high school degree (26% versus 35%)…
Maybe Republicans oppose federal spending on education because the federal government role is not to oversee education.
Case in point: Prior to 1979, America was one of the, if not the, leading countries in education. American children were known for leading the world in quality public education. American teachers were looked at as the best in the world. Since 1979, each year our educational system has degraded, our students dumber and our teachers worse.
Why? What happened in 1979?
Why, the federal government got their grubby hands on the US public education system and created the Department of Education.
Where, before, teachers could write their own lesson plans, teach each student in the most effective ways, teachers are now being given instructions on how to teach and what to teach. Students aren’t learning what they need to learn..they’re just taught to regurgitate what is on ‘the test’…and on the test preparing them for the test.
Like everything that Big Government touches, ingenuity and creativity is pushed aside for regulation and conformity. Schools, once the gardens for nurturing thinking and expression are little more than mills turning out the next generation of slow thinking meat-puppets who are unable to question anything because they have been bred and trained that the government, those holy guardians of the school purse strings, are all-knowing and ‘intellectually elite’.
You want to improve the US education system? Get the government out of it.
